Message-ID: <200601201337.k0KDbG2L003480@mail-core.space2u.com> Don't know if this list is good, but I don't find a better place for my question.. I'm planning to prepare a tcl/tk-script that also talks to a postgresql database. I run it all on Win2000-machine, but under cygwin. I thus have the standard postgresql installation that comes with cygwin, and have a database up and running (testing via psql). I also have cygwin's tcl/tk (and can run tclsh and wish without problems). Then I understand that libpgtcl is no longer provided for postgresql, and that I need to get it from somewhere. At Gborg I find a couple of precompiled versions of libpgtcl, but I don't get them to work. If I try a statically linked version, tcl find the library but can not connect to the database. And if I try a dynamically linked version, tcl is missing the library or one of its dependents. At Gborg I also find the sources so I can compile libpgtcl myself. But it seems like the configure script is not adapted for cygwin, and I end up with a number of errors. Is there someone who can tell me what the way forward would be? For example: - if I should indeed be able to run the precompiled libs? - if I need to compile sources, and what I need that I don't have today? - if I should move out of the cygwin environment and run directly under Windows (I am confused about pure Windows vs. unix/cygwin when getting tcl to access the postgresql database). /Lars From brett_schwarz at yahoo.com Fri Jan 20 22:18:54 2006 From: brett_schwarz at yahoo.com (Brett Schwarz) Date: Fri, 20 Jan 2006 14:18:54 -0800 (PST) Subject: [Pgtcl-hackers] libpgtcl & cygwin? This really doesn't answer your question, but why are you using cygwin? You know there is a native port of PG for windows, right? I have not tested libpgtcl with cygwin at all, so I don't know what the status is of that. > At Gborg I find a couple of precompiled versions of > libpgtcl, but I don't get them to work. What error are you getting when you try connecting to the database using the statically link version? I'm not sure what the compatibility is using a native compiled version with a cygwin install. If you send the error, then we can try to find out what's causing the error. > At Gborg I also find the sources so I can compile > libpgtcl myself. You could try installed Tcl/Tk from activestate.com, and then try the statically link libpgtcl again. HTH, --brett --brett __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
